• Welcome to your Junior year at SHS. You are officially an upper classman! A milestone you have been looking forward to for at least the past two years. Junior year is a great year with the privileges that come with being an upper classman but with fewer decisions to make than next year. Enjoy it, and take advantage of all the opportunities the year offers.

Class Officers Petitions for Junior Class officers (president, vice-president, secretary- treasurer and reporter) are now available, see Mrs. Holt in the Wigwam to pick one up. Candidates must have a "C" average or above must not have been suspended, must have Junior dues ($10) paid and must not be on the debt list. SGA Officers are not elligible to also be class officers. Junior Class Officers will also serve as the leaders of the Prom Committee. Candidates are required to have recommendations from three teachers. Return petitions to Mrs. Holt no later than Friday, Sept.12, 2014. Elections will be conducted through first block classes on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. Remember to vote for the person whom you think will represent you best and who you think is the most qualified, not necessarily the most popular.

Homecoming Game, Pep Rally and Carnival is Friday, October 24, Dance is Saturday October 25, 2014. Spirit Week is October 20-24.

Prom will be held this year on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Plan to be there for one of the most memorable events of your high school years. Prom is sponsored by the Junior class. Juniors and Seniors and their dates are invited.

Prom Committee A Prom Committee will be selected. It is the responsibility of the Prom Committee to select a theme, plan, and decorate for the Prom. To be eligible for the prom committee, you must be a student in good standing with an average of "C" or better, must not have been suspended, must have Junior dues paid and must not be on the debt list. Petitions are now available from Mrs. Holt in the Wigwam. Petitions will require recommendations from three teachers. Petitions are due no later than Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. The officers of the Junior class will also serve as leaders of the prom committee. The Prom Committee will meet monthly during activity period in the Wigwam.

Junior Dues Along with the privileges of being a Junior, also come responsibilities. One of the responsibilities is paying Junior class dues. Dues are $10. Please pay Mrs. Holt by placing your cash or check in an envelope with your name and first block teacher's name written on the envelope. Make checks payable to SHS. Mrs. Holt will be in the gym on bus duty from 7:30 - 8:05 a.m. September 29 through October 3 to collect dues OR bring your envelope to the Wigwam in the Technical Career Center. Payment is due on or before October 3, 2014. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the student being placed on the debt list, so please get your dues paid on time. As an added incentive, all students who have paid on time will have their name entered in a drawing to win lunch for two in the Wigwam!

SAT/ACT Juniors should take the SAT and/or ACT test. The tests are administered here at SHS. See Guidance for testing dates, deadlines for sign-up, and registration information.

Please feel free to come to Mrs. Holt with questions or concerns regarding the privileges and responsibilities of the Junior Class. Have a great Junior Year!
