STEM Camp Photo Showcase
The SCPS STEM Summer Camps were made possible through the Advancing Computer Science Education (ACSE) grant, and implemented in cooperation with the Southside Virginia Regional Technology Cooperative (SVRTC) and Longwood University's Institute for Teaching through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP). Camps are designed to allow 12-16 students an intensive immersion in topics on robotics, coding, and computer science centered on hands-on engagement with one or more robotics systems. The Hummingbird robotics system was the centerpiece of the camp for rising 6th and 7th graders.
Each camp features a Q & A session with a professional scientist or engineer. Our rising 6th and 7th graders spoke with Dr. Kirsch, a mechanical engineer with the health technology company Omnicell who has worked with a variety of robotic systems across his career, including mobile robotic systems designed for moving objects, wearable exoskeletons, and automated pharmacy projects.
Please be patient with the photo carousel below, it has a large number of photos of our students in action, and may take a little time to load!
