• In the event school should have to close for an emergency situation, the county is asking parents to continue instruction at home.  Below is a list of activities that we ask you to do with your child in the event that Riverdale will have to close.

    Day 1

    *Log on to Starfall.com.  Have your child read a book/participate in an activity on starfall that matches the phonics skill of the week. 

    *Have your child sort & write their spelling words.

    *Have your child practice writing their letters. (Name/Alphabet)

    *Practice words from the Fry Sight Word List (available via the internet)

    *Log onto internet4classrooms.com & select 1st grade.  Have your child choose/participate in activity corresponding with the math skill of the week.

    Day 2

    *Log on to Starfall.com.  Have your child read a book/participate in a short vowel activity. (located at the bottom of the alphabet page)

    *Have your child complete a Rainbow write of their spelling words.

    *Have your child complete a 4-square writing activity with the topic of favorite subject at school

    *Practice words from the Fry Sight Word List (available via the internet)

    *Log onto internet4classrooms.com & select 1st grade.  Have your child choose/participate in activity corresponding with the math skill of the week.

    *Have your child tell you what it means to be a good citizen, and what he/she can do to be a good citizen in his/her community.

    Day 3

    *Log onto starfall.com & have your child read a book/participate in another short vowel activity.

    *Complete a blind sort with your child as well as letting them write 5 sentences with their spelling words.

    *Have your child practice writing their letters. (color words/number words)

    *Log onto internet4classrooms.com & select 1st grade.  Have your child choose/participate in activity corresponding with the math skill of the week.

    *Practice your childs addition facts with them.
